Just picked up a cheap 96 Xplorer 300. We have had our 01 Sportsman 500ho for a while but i saw the opportunity to snag a cheap quad to play around with for a little while and have a few questions. 1996 Xplorer 300 bone stock right down to what look like are the original tires from how weather cracked they are.Yes on installing the piston correct. Arrow towards the exhaust. The cylinder was just bored and honed. This piston and rings are at new specs. I have 75 PSI when cranking and it went to 80 PSI after putting a few drops of oil in the cylinder. When I got it it did not run, but with alot of work I have gotten it running but not very well, or not in my opinion. The problem more than likely will be the shift linkage. It can be adjusted. It has to be set just right. The rod end at the shifter will be left hand thread. Disconnect the rods from the shifter. I think it is hung up in 2 gears low and reverse.
