Although I had never heard of nshss before, I didn't think of it as a scam until i saw that the membership being 90 dollars. I thought it was pretty sketchy at first, though i was naive and thought i had actually earned a big opportunity that would make a change in my college resume, so without any research of nshss i had paid the 90 dollars ...NHS is a school based volunteer club. Your school will nominate you based on grades and character, typically. You help within your community to remain a member. NSHSS is a large, nationwide organization that costs $70-80 to join. Membership requirements are lax (low gpa and sat, not a judge of character).NSHSS makes you pay 70 bucks from the get go which is shady enough. You do get scholarship opportunities, but it won't really help on college apps. Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt I suppose as I didn't join, but I did my own research for a bit after getting their email like 3 weeks ago.I swear so many people are getting the letters about NSHSS and I got one earlier in the year. I asked my Freshman English teacher (who was the NHS advisor at our school) and he said it was definitely a scam. Tbh I feel bad for people that paid $90 and the bumper stickers that are on people’s cars whenever I walk around the neighborhood.
