Born in Macau in 1989, Kuok-Wai Lio began his piano studies at the age of five. In 1997 he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and in 2006 he entered Curtis.Working in collaboration with the International Center for Music at Park University, Maestro Bruce Sorrell is thrilled to have award winning pianist Kuok-Wai Lio join the orchestra to perform both an amazing early Mozart concerto, and the incredible Bach Brandenburg 5 with the orchestra.A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, pianist Kuok-Wai Lio is a recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant administered by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Career Advancement Award given by the Musical Fund Society of Philadelphia and a Scholarship Award by the Feltsman Piano Foundation.
