Dasher waiting for order.
Last night I got yet another delivery if cold food. Probably 8/10 of my deliveries in the past 6 months have followed the same pattern: (1) order with estimated delivery time at X, (2) around the time rhe order was due at X dasher messages that he is at the restaurant waiting for food, (3) 30-90 minutes later food is finally picked up, (4) delivery of cold food.
Order totals out to like $15 before tip, so admittedly not a lot of food. But I haven't even seen a Dasher unassign the order. The area I live in has a lot of active Dashers (and I work at a McDonald's in the area myself so I know pretty well how many), but Doordash still hasn't even assigned it. 15 Jun 2022 ... I see many posts on here about a dasher waited 30 minutes plus at a restaurant for an order etc. I will NEVER wait more than 10 minutes, and if I get a vibe from the employees that it would be any longer of A wait I unassign the order immediately and go about my day.
We're used to waiting awhile for dashers in our area despite being relatively close to the restaurant and tipping well, however this is the first time the order has never been picked up. When the order comes in, I either accept or decline depending on the amount. If I decline, I continue to stare at my phone until the next order comes in. If I accept, I head to the restaurant.

Yesterday we ordered, and it showed dasher waiting for order. but it just sat in that status with the time being bumped up again and again. And then the dasher icon showed leaving, but the status still showed waiting. My wife chatted in, and they canceled and they gave us a refund plus compensation. Dasher wanted you to cancel so that she'd get half pay. She didn't want to wait, but also didn't want the trip to be wasted. She lied to you (maybe knowingly, maybe not, hard to say) to get you to cancel on your end, because if she unassigned she'd get nothing and take a hit on her completion rating.
