I run the HF + ar maglock gen 2 I just bought a ar mag lock gen 2 for 30$ + strike industries bolt catch for $20 and called it a day. Works well for me. Didn’t want to spend 100+ on a new system and I know the kingpin and hogue are backordered or. Shipping is slow. It looks as if gen 2 & 4 maglock function the same i.e. slides in between upper & lower so I don't think gen 2 will work any better than gen 4. The issues seem to be the amount of space between upper & lower when the bolt is locked back and the maglock aligned properly so it slides in without hitting the lower or upper.Kingpin & maglock is stupid quick after some training. Put in the work and it’s second nature. Edit: Tip to make it just as quick as a normal mag release. Put pressure on the mag release then press the kingpin when you want to drop the mag. Don’t separate the lower/upper then release the mag in two slow steps.My own experience with three AR15s and one AR10, all with Maglock and Kingpin is that they're a pain in the ass. Mainly because when the bolt locks back the Kingpin doesn't allow the upper and lower to separate enough for the Maglock tang to fit between the receivers.
