A tstat failure forced the car to go into a recovery mode where the fans stay on at full blast and the temp gauge pegs to zero. I don’t know why gm made it such that it overrides the temp gauge but the tstat is likely your problem. Hooked it back up. Started the truck and let it idle for about 2-3 minutes and it appeared the gauge started to move a little.The fact that the fans are always on could be caused by a missing ECT value. If the PCM is not able to determine the coolant temperature, it will activate the fans at all time to make sure the engine will not overheat. Ask Your Own Chevy Question. It will adjust power percentage based on temp. It's pretty quiet unless it's really running on high power. Most of the time you won't hear it because it is running on low power.
