I would think with 3.55 gears it should work pretty good with the ratios you are considering. It would put you about 2900 RPM at 65 MPH-- 3.73's.a little over 3000 RPM @ 65 MPH.
No idea on the rear gears. We haven't had the car long and are just now starting to go through and fix little odds and ends. Rear tires are 255/60/15. The trans in the car now is a Saginaw 3925656. So it's apparently a unit for a low hp small block. Our car was originally a 307, 4spd so I'm thinking that it's the original, rebuilt trans.More than likely the main case casting number is 3925661 and the partial VIN is 20N557072 which would indicate it was originally installed in a 1970 Firebird assembled at the Norwood assembly plant. Actually it is 3925656, and appears to be from a mid seventies Camaro. That is a Saginaw 4-spd. That casting number was first used in 1968.Compare with similar items.
