5800x idle temp
5800X was thermally the worst Zen 3 CPU. 5800X3D has even worse thermals. Expect straight to 90C for most all-core workloads. There is no comparing to other Ryzen 5000 CPUs (Ryzen 7000 maybe). Water isn't guaranteed to help, especially without a newer block made with these CPUs in mind (Optimus, TechN, Velocity2).My 3800x seems to be running on idle anywhere between 40 - 50c. Stress tests peak at around 75 - 80c. Typical modern PC games seem to go "consistently" around 70c at high settings, although it does touch 80c for a second before the fan speed brings it back down. I have all the latest bios and chipset drivers.

While 5700G is different with a monolithic die, less cache and lower operating points it uses the same underlying architecture and process. Your operating temps should be quite safe I'd have to think. Everybody who encounters high temps on Ryzen 5800X, please don't panic. And also 90C is not OK. Before RMA just revise your cooling solution, and case airflow. The 3800X runs a bit cooler at the higher end, but not much in it. They’re both higher TDP chips rated at 105w so they’ll behave around the same. When booting in to windows I idle at 70C which is absolutely ridiculous - interestingly when im gaming I barely increase temperatures past this. The only time I have seen it go to 90C+ was when I ran a CPU-Z stress test.
