That is not to say that a one off custom could have been factory ordered. Marlin was known to do custom work per order.It was modified shortly thereafter to use a Reising (H&R) model 65 magazine - which is listed as interchangeable with the Marlin 56/89C magazine, as well as the Ithaca X5C, etc. The catch/release lever was added to the front of the trigger guard. I have just the one Reising mag, and both that and the Marlin 56/89C mags are rather expensive.
