This variation is produced between June 1939 and may 1940. Serial numbers of this variation always start with a 0, hence the name 0-Series. Fortunately, given the historical background of Walther pistols, there are books available that list many of the serial numbers of the guns that were produced by Walther. Find the gun's serial number.Mauser "commonly" used the scripted letters on their P.38's until early 1945 when Mauser went back to the block lettering. Walther and Spreewerk did not use the script lettering. Don't believe everything you find on the web it can be wrong as in this case or misleading.

I picked up a Manurhin PP in .22 a few months ago and had never investigated the s/n for production date. It has a s/n of 11077 which makes it a pretty early production.
