Chevy silverado radio volume not working.

Yesterday was a -30 day here in Southern Ontario, -40 with the windchill... and started my truck up after it sat all night, yesterday afternoon. It was not happy to start clearly, but didn't notice until i hit my signal switch ...
Grab a short piece of bare, single strand wire. Hop in the driver's seat, turn on the ignition and stereo. Listen to a nice song. Then, turn off the ignition. Open the door if you want; the switch is disconnected so the stereo should still be playing. Use your piece of wire to short across the three-wire (4-pin) connector, blk/grn to black.All sound shuts off except for the safety sounds (seatbelt sound, car slowing ahead warranting sound, etc.). No radio, no apple carplay audio. The only thing that seems to fix the issue is shutting the truck off and letting it sit for 5-10 mins.Have a 07 silverado with factory radio and cd player. Radio works and then does not work. Or I should say it works but at a very low volume level and only through the roof post speakers. Also noticed that when the radio is haveing this issue the open door chimes also are very weak or do not work. Then it may come on and everything works.On my 2008 Silverado, the radio works with no bass or you get the feeling that there are some speakers not working> I also turn up the volume all the way and it sounds like 25% of my Toyota. I sounds music with no bass. I tested each speaker 1-by-1 and all works. I also turned off the "Auto-Volume" with no luck.Simple enough fix though, power cycle the truck and the volume knob started working again. I apologize for the video volume if it is bad. Simple enough fix though, power cycle the truck and the volume knob started …So, when a non GM box is installed, you need an adapter to turn off the power to the radio and to provide a circuit for the chimes to work.
