Mosasaur fossil

Mosasaur, an extinct group of predatory marine lizards that competed with other marine reptiles for food during the Cretaceous Period (145.5 million to 66 million years ago). Mosasaurs were widespread in the oceans, and many were quite large, some measuring up to 17 meters (56 feet) long.

Mosasaurus fossils have been found in places as diverse as North and South America, Europe, Africa, Western Asia, and Antarctica. This distribution encompassed a wide range of oceanic climates including tropical, subtropical, temperate, and subpolar climates.We analyse the fossil record of mosasaurs in terms of fossil completeness as a measure of fossil quality, using three novel, correlating metrics of fossil completeness and 4083 specimens.
