Alluvial aquifer

The alluvial aquifer is composed of sand and gravel deposits that are present on both sides of the Missouri River. The alluvial aquifer is as much as 100 ft thick at the well field and is overlain by about 20 ft of clay, silt, and sand deposits (Kelly, 1996).

The study area was Wadi Bani Malik, east of Jeddah in the upstream of the mountainous range covering 519 square kilometres of alluvial (unconfined) aquifer area. The total samples collected were 20 in number. The authors reported As, Ba and Li with 98–964, 18–377 and 94–1815 µg/L concentrations.Alluvial aquifers are shallow (<50 feet) with water yields that can vary tremendously due to the influence of aquifer properties and the spatial distribution of recharge and pumping stress. There is rapidly increasing demand for water in the region by rural water systems, irrigators, livestock producers, and rural communities and these demands ...

A hole in the ground made to gain access to an aquifer to obtain water for economic use. Wells may be dug (mostly old wells less than 50 feet deep) or drilled. Drilled water wells in solid rock are typically up to 300 feet deep. Wells in alluvial and glacial sediments are typically about 100 feet deep. Well point.Since there is no continuous basal aquifer, the two most commonly employed hydrogeological conceptual models for volcanic aquifers of basaltic islands; the Hawaiian model (McDonald et al., 1983) having a low-lying basal aquifer linked to inland dyke-impounded and perched aquifers, and; the Canary Islands model (Custodio, 1989) …The Gascoyne River alluvial aquifer system is the sole source of \“fresh” water for both the Carnarvon Horticultural Area and Carnarvon Township. The USGS has established a groundwater-level monitoring network in the South Platte alluvial aquifer by instrumenting 20 existing USGS NAWQA wells with pressure transducers and data loggers. Sources/Usage: Public Domain. Land use in the South Platte River Basin varies from forested areas in the mountains, to urban areas along the Front Range ...Hydrologic analysis of the alluvial aquifer in the Wet Mountain Valley has been undertaken using synoptic streamflow and groundwater-level elevation measurements, aquifer tests, water-quality sampling and data analysis, and numerical groundwater-flow modeling. The Red River alluvial and Carrizo-Wilcox aquifers are two of the most important aquifers in northwestern Louisiana. In 2010, a combined total of about 27.1 million gallons per day (Mgal/d) of groundwater were pumped from the Red River alluvialThe alluvial stream-aquifer systems are classified based on the predominant regional ground-water flow component as underflow-component dominated, baseflow-component dominated, or mixed. On the basis of the results of this study, we conclude that the dominant regional ground-water flow component, base-flow or underflow, can be …

Ground-water contamination of the surficial terrace alluvial aquifer has occurred at U.S. Air Force Plant 4, a government-owned, contractor-operated facility, northwest of Fort Worth, Texas. A poorly constructed monitoring well, P–22M, open to the underlying middle zone of the Paluxy aquifer was installed at landfill 3, October 1987, allowing leakage of …Although the bedrock aquifer contains more than 50 times as much water in storage as the alluvial aquifer, it does not store and transmit water as readily as the alluvial aquifer. For example, about 91 percent of the water pumped from wells is obtained from the alluvial aquifer, yet water-level declines generally have not exceeded 40 feet. The shallow alluvial aquifers of the delta plains and flood plains of Bangladesh, comprises about 70% of total land area are mostly affected by elevated concentrations of arsenic (As) in groundwater exposing a population of more than 35 million to As toxicity. Geochemical studies of shallow alluvial aquifer in the Meghna flood plain ……

The Brazos River alluvium aquifer underlies the Brazos River in Texas from Bosque County to Fort Bend County. The aquifer, one of 21 minor aquifers in the State, supplies water for irrigation, domestic, stock, and commercial use. The Brazos River alluvium aquifer likely will become more important in the future as demand for water increases ...This dataset, published in 2002, represents the extent of the alluvial and glacial aquifers north of the southern-most line of glaciation. Aquifers are shown in the States of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa ...

The transmissibility of the alluvial aquifer is 500 m 3 /day/m, and the electrical conductivity value of the groundwater is around 1000μS/cm. Gâvur Lake Wetland, formed by tectonic movements, is an important wetland in Kahramanmaraş.Other aquifers in Kansas are the Flint Hills aquifer, Glacial Drift aquifer, Douglas aquifer, Ozark aquifer, and alluvial aquifers associated with the major river systems. Unlike the High Plains aquifer, these aquifers are relatively localized.
