A large flock of our flying friends hunkered down in open water on the north end of Creel until mid-December when it finally froze over so ice is still playing catch-up. We now have groups following us out to our fish houses with full-size vehicles. After a brief warm-up, the weather is supposed to get cold again, which should keep the fish biting.

Most of our Perch are coming either super shallow, less than 10 feet, or in the bloodworm, basin areas of the main bay and the eastern portion of the fishery. 34-50 foot range is kind of the rule in this ‘later season’. The biggest problem with these fish is they are there and biting one day and there and not biting the next.So once again not much has changed here in North Dakota as far as the ice, snow, slush and access for hard shacks and vehicles without tracks.
